Prices and payment

Builder costs $99 per month and Scale costs $499 per month. The two-week pilot costs $500 once. All prices are in US dollars. Tax may be added at checkout where it applies.

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record (reseller) for your purchase. Stripe calculates and collects any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies. We never receive or store your card number.

Renewal and cancellation

Builder and Scale renew every month until you cancel. You are charged at the start of each monthly billing period.

You can cancel at any time in the Stripe customer portal or by email to jorge@theusedcarindex.com. Canceling stops the next renewal. Your key keeps working until the end of the month you already paid for, then it stops.

We do not prorate or refund unused time unless the law requires it.

Two-week pilot

The pilot is a single payment of $500 with Scale limits. It does not renew and it does not turn into a subscription. The pilot key is created as soon as your payment completes and stops working 14 days after it is created.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries the charge on its own schedule. Your key keeps working during the retries. If the payment is still not collected, the subscription ends and the key stops working.

Your API key

Your key is shown once, on the confirmation page right after payment. Copy it then. If you lose it, email us and we will revoke it and issue a replacement for the same plan.

Data and use limits

The data is provided as is from public sources, including NHTSA public data and public listing pages. Sources can be incomplete, delayed or wrong.

This feed is not advice, a rating, a verdict or a vehicle history for an individual car. Complaint counts and model-generated tags do not establish the condition of any vehicle.

Use limits follow your key's plan. Do not scrape around the limits. Keys can be revoked for abuse.

The feed shows facts. A delisted listing means it is no longer listed. It is never labeled sold. No photos or dealer-written text enter the feed.
