Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY BREAK IF CARE IS NOT USED WHEN REMOVING THE FUEL TANK AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE QUICK CONNECTORS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2006. OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THEIR MOTORCYCLE REPAIRED WILL BE RENOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL DURING AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT APRILIA AT 770-592-2261.

AFTER OPENING THIS INVESTIGATION TO GATHER MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ALLEGED FUEL LEAKS FROM THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTOR ON RST 1000 FUTURA MODEL MOTORCYCLES,ODI MET WITH COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES.DURING THE MEETING IT WAS AGREED THAT APRILIA WOULD CONDUCT A SAFETY RECALL TO ADDRESS THE LEAKING FUEL LINE CONNECTORS.ADDITIONALLY, THEY REVEALED THEIR DISCOVERY OF AN IDENTICAL ISSUE (REQUIRING A SLIGHTL
