Date: 2016-09-26. Systems: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC.
Defect: Piaggio Group Americas, Inc. (Piaggio) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Aprilia Tuono V4 1000, 2016 Tuono V4 1100, 2015 Caponord 1200 ABS/ADD, and 2016 Caponord Rally motorcycles manufactured June 18, 2013, to June 13, 2016. The affected motorcycles have a front brake master cylinder that may allow air into the hydraulic circuit, causing a longer than expected braking distance.
Consequence: If an abnormal distance is required to stop the motorcycle, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: Aprilia will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder pushrod and boot assembly, free of charge. The recall began October 04, 2016. Owners may contact Aprilia customer service at 1-866-705-1727.

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
