Defect: ON CERTAIN FLATBED UTILITY TRAILERS, THERE IS AN INSUFFICIENT WELD OF THE RAMP HANGER POCKETS THAT STORE THE RAMPS WHEN NOT IN USE ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT UNDERSIDE OF THE TRAILER BED. IF THE WELD IS INSUFFICIENT, IT COULD CAUSE THE RAMP HANGER POCKET TO DETACH, DROPPING THE RAMP TO THE GROUND OR ROADWAY.
Consequence: A FAILURE OF THE RAMP HANGER POCKETS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO INCLUDE PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR BOTH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND ADD TWO 'HAT BRACKETS' (ONE UNDER EACH HANGER POCKET) BY BOLTING THE BRACKET TO THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH AFFECTED TRAILER TO FURTHER SECURE THE RAMP POCKETS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 15, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BIG TEX TRAILERS AT 1-800-594-5637.

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
