Defect: Elgin Sweeper Company Inc. (Elgin) is recalling certain model year 2009-2015 Megawind MX vehicles manufactured January 1, 2009, to February 4, 2015. The affected street sweepers have boom mounting pins that may lose their retaining pins, allowing the mounting pins to move out of position and the boom to move.
Consequence: If the mounting pin moves out of position, the boom may detach from the truck, increasing the risk of crash or personal injury.
Remedy: Elgin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the mounting pins and retainers with a revised mounting pin, free of charge. The recall began on July 31, 2015. Owners may contact Elgin customer service at 1-877-342-5374. Elgin's recall number for this campaign is SB-0167.

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
