23V560000

Date: 2023-08-08. Systems: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

Defect: Hino Motors Sales U.S.A., Inc. (Hino) is recalling certain 2020-2024 NE7A, NE7B, NE8A, NH9A, NJ7A, NJ7B, NJ8A, NJ8J, NV7A, NV7B, and NV8A vehicles equipped with 70 or 90 gallon fuel tanks. The fuel sender float may deform and detach, which can lead to an inaccurate fuel gauge reading.

Consequence: An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel sender gauge, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 5, 2023. Owners may contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9390. Hino's number for this recall is AAV70.

Do not drive: No. Park outside: No.

Notes on this record

  • Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
  • System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
  • Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
  • A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
  • NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
