Defect: WINNEBAGO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2011 WINNEBAGO VIEW AND ITASCA NAVION MOTOR HOMES BECAUSE THE DINETTE AREA SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS ON THOSE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 210, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES." IN A COLLISION, THE GENERATED CRASH FORCES CAN CAUSE THE RESTRAINT'S ATTACHMENT TO TEAR AND ALLOW THE ANCHOR T (excerpt)

Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH KWIKEE BRAND ELECTRIC STEPS, THE STEPS MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH DEFECTIVE STEP CONTROL UNITS.

Consequence: THE DEFECTIVE CONTROL UNITS COULD DEVELOP AN ELECTRICAL SHORT ALLOWING FOR THE POTENTIAL OF THE PLASTIC CASE TO IGNITE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE KWIKEE STEP AND REPLACE THE STEP CONTROL UNIT, IF NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 23, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-800-537-1885.

Consequence: THIS COULD DAMAGE THE TIRE AND CAUSE VEHICLE INSTABILITY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

WINNEBAGO HAS FILED DEFECT REPORT 07V-163 WHICH OUTLINES WINNEBAGO'S INTENTION TO INSTALL SECONDARY LATCHES ON THE AFFECTED CARGO DOORS OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES.ODI BELIEVES THAT THE PROPOSED SECONDARY LATCH WILL PROVIDE A MORE RELIABLE LATCHING SYSTEM (1) FOR OWNERS WHO MAY INADVERTENTLY FAIL TO SECURE THE PRIMARY LATCH AND/OR (2) AS A REDUNDANT RETENTION MEANS FOR SITUATIONS IN WHICH A CARGO DOO
