Defect: Lightning eMotors Inc. (Lightning eMotors) is recalling certain 2021-2022 FT3-40, 2021-2023 FT3-80, and 2022-2023 FT3-120 vehicles. The instrument cluster may not activate the "Brake," "Park," and "ABS" indicator warning lights during the light function check when the ignition is turned to the "on" (run) position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehi (excerpt)
Consequence: Failure to illuminate the indicator warning lights during vehicle startup may not properly notify the driver of system failures, increasing the risk of a crash. (excerpt)
Remedy: Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 1, 2023. Owners may contact Lightning eMotors customer service at 1-970-744-7241. (excerpt)

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
