Defect: ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (A/T) SELECTOR LEVER MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MACHINED ALLOWING EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE LEVER, CAUSING IMPROPER ENGAGEMENT OF THE "P" RANGE (PARK).
Consequence: THE TRANSMISSION COULD REMAIN IN THE "R" RANGE (REVERSE) AFTER SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL, CAUSING A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE A/T CONTROL LEVER ASSEMBLY, A/T SHIFT CONTROL CABLE AND PROPER PARKING PROCEDURES LABEL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 16, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI FUSO AT 856-467-4500.
