One complaint can name several systems, so shares can add to more than 100 percent.
Model-generated complaint tags: This model year has not been tagged.
Date: 2010-06-25. Systems: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC.
Defect: KONGSBERG POWER PRODUCTS SYSTEMS I, INC., (KPPS) IS RECALLING ON BEHALF OF MONACO COACH CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED AFTER APRIL 2007 AND EQUIPPED WITH PNEUMATIC AND HYDRAULIC ADJUSTABLE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLIES SUPPLIED BY KPPS. THE DRIVE PIN WHICH SECURES THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM TO THE BALANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY MAY BECOME DISENGAGED, THIS MAY CAUSE A REDUCTION IN VEHICLE BRAKING (excerpt)

Remedy: KPPS WILL PROVIDE A CLAMP ASSEMBLY KIT ALONG WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 16, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KPPS AT 1-877-485-6647. (excerpt)

Consequence: THIS CONDITION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE THE STEERING GEAR TO STALL AND RESTRICT THE STEERING TURNING ANGLE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: MONACO IS WORKING WITH TRW TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING GEAR (PLEASE SEE 07E101). THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 24, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545 OR TRW AT 1-765-429-1768.

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
