Date: 2006-06-14. Systems: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING.
Defect: ON CERTAIN BUSES EQUIPPED WITH DETROIT DIESEL SERIES 50G ENGINES, HIGHER THAN EXPECTED TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW THE LOW PRESSURE NATURAL GAS REGULATOR GASKET TO LEAK COOLANT AND DRIP ONTO THE TERMINALS OF THE BATTERY CHARGING ALTERNATOR.
Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT AND THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.
Remedy: DETROIT DIESEL IS CONDUCTING THE RECALL (PLEASE SEE 06E028000) AND WILL REPAIR THE ENGINES BY REPLACING THE LOW PRESSURE REGULATOR GASKET FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DETROIT DIESEL AT 1-313-592-3708 OR ORION BUS AT 905-403-7832.

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
