Recalls

2 recalls.

20V168000

Date: 2020-03-20. Systems: EQUIPMENT.

Defect: Terex South Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain 2009-2016 TCX60/85 and SML65/90 aerial devices. The rod eyes on the 25ft lift cylinders may fail prematurely.

Consequence: If the rod eye fails the lift boom will drift down. The remaining cylinder may not support the boom fully and will slowly leak down. These scenarios increase the risk of an injury.

Remedy: Terex will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rod eyes and shims, free of charge. The recall began April 9, 2020. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000. Terex's number for this recall is SN684.

Do not drive: No. Park outside: No.

16V805000

Date: 2016-11-04. Systems: EQUIPMENT.

Defect: Terex South Dakota (TSD) is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Terex TC, and TCX hybrid electric trucks manufactured June 8, 2009, to July 30, 2014 and equipped with aerial devices. The affected vehicles may be improperly wired, and as a result, the aerial boom may move unintentionally when the hydraulic tools are being used.

Consequence: Inadvertent boom movement can cause the platform to strike objects in the work area, increasing the risk of injury to the operator.

Remedy: TSD will notify owners, and dealers will install a diode and alter the wiring to correct the issue, free of charge. The recall began on November 20, 2016. Owners may contact TSD customer service at 1-800-982-8975. TSD's number for this recall is SN631.

Do not drive: No. Park outside: No.

Notes on this record

  • Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
  • System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
  • Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
  • A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
  • NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
