Defect: Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2013-2025 AP45A trucks. The boom stow switch wire in the cargo storage area may become damaged, which can result in a short circuit, causing the wire to overheat. (excerpt)
Consequence: An overheated wire can ignite flammable material in the cargo area, increasing the risk of fire. (excerpt)
Remedy: Altec will instruct owners to inspect their vehicle and if the wire is not protected, order a kit that includes a bolt on guard to protect the wires, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 11, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recal (excerpt)

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
