1 recalls.

20V034000

Date: 2020-01-22. Systems: EQUIPMENT.

Defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Altec AC26, AC28, AC30, and AC38 Crane Aerial Devices. The boom lift cylinder hose may have been connected to a port that does not have an internal velocity fuse. Failure of a boom lift cylinder hose that is not protected by a velocity fuse can result in uncontrolled boom movement.

Consequence: Uncontrolled movement of the boom lift increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: Altec will notify owners and will inspect the hose to verify that it is connected properly, repairing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 30, 2020. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is MAB 748.

Do not drive: No. Park outside: No.

Altec has learned that a 12-volt Airtronics relay installed in the PDM could have been manufactured to an insufficient threshold on certain units built from December 2004 to October 2022. This can cause the relay to overheat and fail, causing the accessory lights to stop working.

Notes on this record

  • Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
  • System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
  • Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
  • A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
  • NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
