Model-generated complaint tags: This model year has not been tagged.
Date: 2007-06-13. Systems: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING.
Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT WITH CUMMINS ISL CM850 DIESEL ENGINES, THE CONNECTING ROD CONTAINS A MACHINING DEFECT IN THE WRIST PIN BUSHING OF THE ROD THAT COULD CAUSE A SEIZURE OF THE PISTON PIN. (excerpt)
Consequence: IF ALLOWED TO PROGRESS, THIS CAN LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ROD RUPTURING THE LOCK CAVITY, OIL AND DEBRIS ON THE ROADWAY AND VEHICLE CRASH. (excerpt)
Remedy: COUNTRY COACH IS WORKING WITH CUMMINS TO RECALIBRATE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND ENHANCE THE ENGINE PROTECTION SYSTEM ENABLING IT TO PROVIDE EARLY DETECTION OF THE FAILURE MODE AND AVOID MORE SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE AND RESULTANT SAFETY HAZARD. CUMMINS WILL ALSO INSTALL A NEW VALVE COVER WITH A CRANKCASE PRESSURE SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE (PLEASE SEE 07E033). OWNERS MAY CONTACT CUMMINS AT 800-343-73 (excerpt)
Defect: CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE MOTOR HOMES WERE EQUIPPED WITH MORE THAN THREE AMBER IDENTIFICATION LAMPS LOCATED AT THE TOP AND FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE SIDE MARKER LIGHTS IN THE COMBINATION HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES DO NOT MEET THE MIN (excerpt)
Consequence: THE FIVE IDENTIFICATION LIGHTS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE CONFUSION TO ON-COMING MOTORISTS WHO ARE USED TO OBSERVING THREE IDENTIFICATION LIGHTS. THE INADEQUACY OF THE FRONT AND REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHTS COULD AFFECT VISIBILITY OF THE MOTOR HOME DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS THAT COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A CRASH. (excerpt)
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE TWO EXTRA IDENTIFICATION LAMPS AND INSTALL FOUR SIDE MARKER LIGHTS, ONE AT EACH CORNER, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT MARCH 31, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT COUNTRY COACH AT 800-547-8015. (excerpt)

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
