As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence/Starter Interlock/Tran (excerpt)
Consequence: Driving a vehicle with an inaccurate transmission gear shifter indicator can result in an unintentional gear shift, which can increase the risk of a crash. (excerpt)

Consequence: Vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.
