Defect: Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2019 Great Dane Everest CL reefer trailers. These trailers may have been built without brake rollers, causing a reduction in brake effectiveness.
Consequence: If brake effectiveness is reduced, the distance needed to stop the trailer may be lengthened, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Great Dane will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the trailers and install and missing brake rollers and inspect the brake drum and shoes for abnormal wear, free of charge. The recall began November 21, 2018. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.
Defect: Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2019 Great Dane Everest CL Multi-Temp trailers equipped with Haldex automatic brake adjusters. During manufacturing, the adjuster anchor pins may not have been properly tightened, causing the pins to loosen or detach. (excerpt)
Consequence: A detached anchor pin would cause the automatic brake adjusters to not properly adjust the brakes to compensate for brake pad wear. If not corrected, this could lead to reduced braking ability or loss of brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. Loose anchor pins could cause the automatic brake adjuster to jam, keeping it from returning to its rest position which may cause the brakes to drag, increa (excerpt)
Remedy: Great Dane will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the anchor pin mounting bolts for the proper tightness, replacing any pins that are missing, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493. (excerpt)

Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
