15V529000

Date: 2015-08-18. Systems: EQUIPMENT.

Defect: E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 E-One Pumpers, Tankers, and Rescue vehicles manufactured using International truck chassis from May 5, 2012, to May 16, 2015. The vehicles are equipped with a manual master body power disconnect switch that activates various side and rear lights as well as the sirens. However, the switch was not linked to the vehicle start circu (excerpt)

Consequence: An emergency vehicle operated without side and rear lighting, its sirens, or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash and injury to its and other vehicle occupants. (excerpt)

Remedy: E-One will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay that will interlock with the engine start circuit so the vehicle cannot be operated until the switch has been engaged, free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. Owners may contact E-One customer service at 1-904-237-1122. (excerpt)

Do not drive: No. Park outside: No.

Notes on this record

  • Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
  • System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
  • Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
  • A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
  • NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
