Defect: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2026 X4 and X6 vehicles. The windshield may not be sealed properly, allowing water to enter the power distribution box or electronic control unit.
Consequence: Water inside electrical components can cause a loss of headlights or door closing functions, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire while parked or driving.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect, reseal the windshield, and replace the vehicle control unit and wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 21, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
Date: 2025-11-06. Type: Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions. Systems: WHEELS.
The wheel bearing and the brake disc are not correctly aligned; are not concentric (circled). When applicable work is being performed, it is therefore difficult to remove the wheel bolts from, or fasten them into the wheel bearing hub.
Notes on this record
Complaints from the API and bulk file are merged and deduplicated by ODI number; the API alone misses records.
System and subsystem counts are numbers of distinct complaints, recalls or communications that name them. One record can name several systems, so shares across systems can add to more than 100 percent; a single share never exceeds 100 percent.
Recalls are counted once per campaign, investigations once per action and manufacturer communications once per NHTSA id, even when NHTSA lists several model names for the same record.
A sales denominator is a calendar-year proxy, not the population of vehicles still in use. Rates are copied from verified pipeline output.
NHTSA's complaints API and bulk file list no complaint for this make, model and model year in this data build.
