Defect: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. The underbody insulation may contact hot exhaust components.
Consequence: Insulation that comes into contact with hot exhaust components increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 30, 2026. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1041.

Defect: Fontaine Modification Company (Fontaine Modification) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been assembled with insufficient oil.
Consequence: A lack of lubrication may cause binding gears and difficulty steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Fontaine Modification will inspect and replace the steering gearbox as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 26, 2026. Owners may contact Fontaine Modification customer service at 1-800-366-8246.

The axle clamp fasteners may be loose, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.

The air tank capacity may be too small, resulting in reduced braking performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Consequence: Reduced brake performance can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
